May 2008 Dear Faculty, Staff, and Organizations, Summer is almost here and once again it is time to begin our recruitment of volunteers for our August Residence Hall Move-In. This year’s process will consist of one very busy day. The date and time is Thursday, August 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We will need lots of volunteers to help in various capacities. As in previous years, we will need volunteers to help staff the check-in process at our off-site check-in location at the old Wal-Mart (Oxford Mall) and to staff water tents outside the various residence halls. Additionally, we will be utilizing unloading zones at each residence hall. We will need people to unload vehicles and then others to help carry belongings to student rooms. If you have helped us before, we would like to have your assistance again. If you are a newcomer, we hope that you will join us as we welcome these 3,000 plus students to the University of Mississippi for the 2008-2009 academic year. A free t-shirt and numerous thank yous from students and families will let you know how much your assistance and presence is valued. If you would like to participate in this year’s event, you may register by completing this form. Additionally, if you are a member of a local civic or church group, we are looking for groups to sponsor water tents, to help staff the check-in station and more importantly (especially for youth groups) to work the unloading zones. If your group is interested, they are also able to register online at the above website or we will send an organization volunteer form to the individual who will serve as the contact person.
